Slovenia - Day 3 - Kobarid - Tolmin
This is the route we biked today
We looked at our remaining route for the next days and we decided to go a different direction. As a result we had less climbing to do today but the next days are going to be a challenge. We started early today at 08:15 as it was going to get pretty warm and we know a serious climb was ahead of us.
14% … uh we’ll manage?
Cycled 3.4km, climbed 46m, currently at 219m high.
The first 5km were the heaviest and we had to stop regularly as 14% on average is pretty steep. After that we had a easier part and then we were going up again at 12%. On the second part we did have some nice views over Kobarid.
Climbing with a view
At 11:30 we were at the top and we were lucky we found a Refugio with good coffee and strudel. The Refugio was at the border in Italy and afterwards we were rolling back in to Slovenia.
Back in Slovenia
From here on we only had 12km to go and we were at Tolmin around 13:00. Another early finish but I’m not mad about it 😄 We had a lunch with salads and pizza and cycled back to the camping.
View from our camping spot
Cycled 28.2km, climbed 1065m, currently at 168m high.
Our camp spot is next to a river and we have a beautiful view. Combined with the awesome weather it’s a beautiful place to rest a bit!
Now it’s time for a shower and a walk back into town for some dinner. Tomorrow we’re not sure where we’ll be staying as there are no campings in the area but we’ll find something.
See you tomorrow!
