La Condruzienne - Day 5 - Campsite Bodut - Yvoir
This the route to the station we rode today:
I had a pretty good night sleep but when my alarm went off at 7:30 it was raining. We did expect rain but I also noticed that a puddle of water had formed on both sides on top of the tent and that a bit of water was dripping inside. I tightened the exterior of the tent and that helped. Probably due to the rain during the night the fabric of the exterior tent had sagged, allowing puddles to form.
As soon as the rain stopped we started packing everything. When it started raining again, we had just finished and were able to move quickly to some kind of shelter on the campsite.
Shelter, for as long as it stats upright that is…
We didn’t have cell reception but as the beginning of the day was already filled with rain and the clouds were promising even more, we made the executive decision to cycle the nearby ravel (a bike path on old traintracks) to Yvoir and just take the train home.
Cycling the Ravel
Cycled 2.3km, climbed 2m, currently at 156m high.
We stopped at a supermarket to get some breakfast and check on the train schedule. While waiting, it started raining again.
Shelter at the supermarket
Cycled 8.6km, climbed 6m, currently at 91m high.
The rain continued on while we were waiting at the station. It seems that we made the right decision as we saw a lot of rain before we got on the train.
While typing this on the train home I’m convinced we made the most of this trip. We had a good first two days and we decided to skip parts when we weren’t feeling it. These decisions resulted in a trip that was still pretty fun, even with the lousy weather.
La Condruzienne was a really nice route and I think we’ll be coming back to do the full tour. If the weather is nice and the conditions on the ground are better there are a lot of cool tracks to ride, sights to see and nice spots to take a rest.
But now I’m eager to take a hot shower when I get home! It will be first hot shower in 5 days as every shower I was able to take were with cold water (and that was not be choice!).
See you next time!
