La Condruzienne - Namur - Bivak Sous son Aile
This is the route we rode today:
We took the train at 14:19 in Leuven to Namur and started cycling around 15:40. The plan was to do a short trip to a bivak where we could wildcamp for the night (wildcamping is only allowed in these specific spots in Belgium).
Bikes on the train
We climbed the citadel of Namur to get warmed up and took a moment to enjoy the view.
View from the citadel
Cycled 2.9km, climbed 74m, currently at 123m high.
We continued along the river and crossed it. Gradually we started doing small climbs and the route was really nice. We did have a couple of paths that were overgrown and we doubted if we would take them but we continued on. All went well except for some scratches here and there.
Overgrown single track
Cycled 12.2km, climbed 205m, currently at 173m high.
We rode through some really nice roads and had some amazing views. The first 30km of this route looks very promising. One of the main attractions is the number of castles we’ll come across.
View off the castle
Cycled 22.9km, climbed 440m, currently at 160m high.
We arrived at the bivak around 18:30 but we cycled on to Ohey because we found an open supermarket and a pizzeria. We stocked up on water and ate a delicious pizza.
Mmmm good pizza
Cycled 35.6km, climbed 724m, currently at 265m high.
We cycled back to the bivak, put up our tents and did some maintenance on the bikes. It feels pretty nostalgic to be laying back in this tent. This tent felt almost like home at the end of the USA trip.
Tents
Cycled 29.2km, climbed 630m, currently at 198m high.
And now it’s time to go to bed, tomorrow will be pretty spicy and I didn’t feel super today. But we’ll get up early and we’ll take our time.
See you tomorrow!
