Eiffel - Day 1 - Höfen - Hillesheim
This is the route my brother, me and my dad rode on our first day:
We drove with the car to Höfen and found a good place to park our car. We also found a toilet nearby which made me and my brother really happy 😇
Happy to get started
Pretty quickly after we started we hit our first trail which was nice and exciting, including lots of roots.
Trail with lots of roots
Cycled 2.3km, climbed 17m, currently at 444m high.
The roads today were really cool but because my dad planned the route from scratch we had a couple of… interesting roads 😂
Going downhill on … a road?
We continued on and we experienced some nice sunny moments, which were really nice (and will probably not be repeated for the next couple of days 😏).
Riding on the road
And then… we discovered that we were crossing the Siegfried line, which was an anti tank defence from World War II (i think).
Siegfried line
Cycled 20.2km, climbed 366m, currently at 628m high.
The adventure did continue and we were at a dead end again after a while. We tried continuing through the woods but had to go back in the end.
Backtracking through the woods
Cycled 28.3km, climbed 533m, currently at 596m high.
After around 40km we found a really nice Backerei and had a nice coffee and cheese cake.
Mmmmm
Cycled 48.0km, climbed 704m, currently at 459m high.
I started to get pretty tired after this stop and the next climbs were pretty exhausting for me. My dad and brother both have electric MTBs so they had less of a problem 😜
We arrived at our hotel at 16:30 and after checking in and showering we went out for dinner.
Biggest hamburger we could order 😇
Cycled 66.7km, climbed 1012m, currently at 454m high.
The next couple of days will be interesting as rain is coming so we’re not entirely sure how much fun it’s going to be. But today was really fun and nice!
See you tomorrow!
