The night was quiet but I was still thinking of bears every time I woke up. We got up at 07:00 and got on our bikes at 08:45.

The first 4 kilometers were really heavy. It was all tarmac road but it was so steep that we had to stop often to catch our breath.

After 4 kilometers, which took at least 1,5 hours we started on a sandy / stony road. Luckily it was a lot less steep but now it was a lot more uneven. We did manage to cycle longer before needing a break.

It was around 12:45 when we arrived at our lunch spot. We took the time to make some coffee and lunch (tortilla with refried beans and cheddar cheese).

While looking at the next part of the route we discovered that we would finish in 8km or that we needed to climb an extra 600m to the next campsite. We decided to bike to the first campsite and decide then if we wanted to continue.

The trail down started with some dicy stairs and a tricky path. As soon as we crossed a wider road we continued on that road instead of the trail. While cycling down we noticed how hot it was and as soon as we saw our campsite we instantly decided to stop here. It’s a nice simple campsite next to the river so perfect to get cleaned up.

As we arrived at 14:45 we took it slow and easy. Although when it gets dark at 18:00 you don’t have that much time. After dinner we found a good spot to hang our food up so that we can stay safe from bears tonight in our tents.****

Tomorrow we’re going to try to get to Camp Williams. Let’s hope everything will work out!

See you tomorrow
